REGISTERING YOUR BUSINESS
- involves enlisting your small enterprises with the proper government agencies & obtaining the necessary permits to conduct business.

  • 1. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
  • 2. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • 3. Social Security System (SSS)
  • 4. Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)
  • 5. Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
  • 6. Dept. of Labor & Employment (DOLE)
  • 7. Local Government
  • 8. Other Agencies (BFAD, GETB, FIDA, etc)

Registering with DTI for the Business Name
• Requirements
  • a. For Single Proprietorship
    • - Must be a Filipino, at least 18 yrs. old
    • - Payment of P300.00 (good for 5 years)
    • - Fill-up Application Form with 1 preferred Business Name and 3 Alternative Names
    • - 2 pieces I.D. picture (2X2)
    • - 1 pc. BIR Documentary Stamp
    • - Foreign sounding names should submit proof of citizenship (BC, Voters ID, PRC ID, Passport, etc.)
  • b. Corporation/Partnership/Cooperative
    • - Photocopy of SEC Certificate/CDA Certificate/Articles
    • of Incorporation/Cooperation
    • - Board Resolution Authorizing one of the corporate
    • officers to sign for and in behalf of the corp./coop.
    • -2 pcs. 2X2 ID photos of the authorized person
    • - Payment of P500.00
    • - 1 pc. BIR Documentary stamp
  • c. Renewal BN Application
    • - Original & 1 photocopy of BN Certificate with Application form
    • - 2 pcs. 2X2 ID picture
    • - 1 BIR Documentary Stamp
BN Registration with DTI is optional for Partnerships and Corporations.
BN Registration establishes the legal identity of an enterprise. Its benefits include the ff:
  • * Facilities transactions with banks & other business institution
  • * Protects businessmen from fraudulent & unfair competition.
Other requirements may be needed for certain types of business:
  • • Service and Repair shops
  • • Real Estate Brokers
  • • Dental/medical clinic/hospitals
  • • Pawnshops, etc.
A penalty of P100 is imposed if the BNR Certificate is not renewed w/in 3-month grace period from the certificate’s expiration date.

Registration with SEC
  • • Only partnerships and corporations need to be registered with the SEC.
  • Registration with SSS
  • An employer or any person who uses the services of another person in business, trade, industry or any undertaking must register with the SSS.
  • Registering with CDA
  • All cooperatives are required to register with CDA as per RA 6938/6939.
  • Registering with BIR
    • - TIN - BN Certificate
    • - Mayor’s permit - Articles of Partnership/Corp.
    • - Residence Certificate, etc.
Registering with DOLE
  • DOLE is tasked to promote gainful employment opportunities, protect workers, & promote their welfare, develop human resources, and maintain industrial peace.
    • -Business establishments with 5 or more are encouraged to register with DOLE
    • -Registration is mandatory for firms which employ 50 or more workers.
Registering with the Local Government (LGU)
  • - All businesses, whatever the legal form, are required to secure a mayor’s permit or municipal license from the municipality or city where they are located.

Registering with other agencies

  • * BFAD- for manufacturers of drugs, cosmetics & food products
  • * GETB- For all manufacturers of garments & textile for exports
  • * NFARD- For rice, corn, and flour dealers
  • * FIDA-For processors and traders of fibers & fiber products
  • * BFAR- For those engaged in the export of fish & fish products & other aquatic products.
